Fifth-largest French city, Bordeaux is the capital of the Aquitaine region. Built on a curve of the river Garonne, Bordeaux has been a major port since pre-Roman times and for centuries a crossroads of European trade.
But, before all, Bordeaux is known as the world's largest fine-wine region. This, then, is a unique opportunity to travel through areas whose names are familiar to any wine connoisseur, such as Saint Emilion, Margaux, Pauillac, to and taste the wines of famous vineyards.
The whole region is beautiful. Visitors marvel at the Côte d'Argent with its gorgeous beaches and famous Bassin d'Arcachon, and, inland, its immense pine forest. Farther south, we invite you to visit the Pays Basque countryside, with the cities of Biarritz and Bayonne.
