Visit France's largest port and second-largest city. Marseille has close links with the Middle East and North Africa. You will walk through narrow stepped streets, quiet squares and see fine 18th century façades which contrast with the bustle of boulevard Canebière and the Cité Radieuse, Le Corbusier's housing complex. The old harbour is renowned for it's daily fish market.
From Marseille to Cassis, the coastline forms narrow inlets, the Calanques, their jagged whit cliffs reflected in dazzling turquoise waters. The En-vau and Sormiou Calanques are especially lovely. You will enjoy visiting this charming little fishing port of Cassis that attracted artists such as Dufy, Signac and Derain. You may too enjoy tasting the famous Cassis white wine.
