Trip distance: Km ( Miles)
Bordeaux, a port city on the Garonne river center is noted for its grand streets and 18th century mansions. The Grand Théâtre, the Place de la Bourse and the Esplanade des Quinconces (the largest square in Europe) are top on the list of sites to explore.
After our Bordeaux visit, we will drive to the Côte d’Argent, a long and beautiful stretch of coastline popular for its surfing spots. At the Bassin d'Arcachon, the straight coastline suddenly forms a vast lagoon. The immense Dune du Pilat is the largest sand dune in Europe. Aside from its fabulous panoramic view, the dune is a magnificent vantage point for watching flocks of migratory birds.
We will visit Cap Ferret with its luxurious villas among the pines, and its magnificent beach Le Grand-Crohot. The Arcachon area is also famous for its oysters. We will stop at an oyster farm near the village of Gujan-Mestras (the center of oyster culture in the Arcachon Basin) for a sample of fresh oysters.
