Versailles & Giverny
Starting from 730 €
Trip distance: Km ( Miles)
In the morning we will see the world-famous Palace of Versailles built for King Louis XIV by the architects Louis Le Vau and Jules Hardouin Mansart.
We will visit the sumptuous main apartments on the first floor and the remarkable Hall of Mirrors. We will move on to the Royal Chapel and continue with a walk through the splendid gardens designed by André Le Notre. There we will find the Grand and Petit Trianons (small palaces). We will also tour the Musée des Carosses housing a collection of royal carriages, and tour the charming Marie Antoinette farm.
In the afternoon, we will go on to Giverny. In 1883, the Impressionist painter Claude Monet rented a house in the small village of Giverny and worked there until his death. The house, known as the Foundation Claude Monet, is decorated in the color schemes that Monet most admired. The gardens are famous as they were the subject of many of Monet’s paintings.
Our final stop will be at the Museum of Impressionismes that features many of the well-known paintings of this 19th century art movement.
